Skin Care. Young Woman Receiving Facial Beauty Treatment, Removing Pigmentation At Cosmeti

IPL

IPL stands for intense pulsed light therapy. IPL delivers intense pulses of broadband light to penetrate layers of the skin. There are no needles or incisions involved, therefore there is no downtime. Treatments typically take 30-45 minutes. Optimal results area typically seen after 2-3 treatments, spaced one month apart. People may use it to:

  • reduce the signs of aging pigmentation (age spots),

  • remove superficial veins

  • reduce acne or

  • remove unwanted hair.

Laser Hair Removal

Laser Hair Removal

Laser hair removal devices use a hyper focused single color beam of light, aka laser. This specific laser, called a Diode laser has a 810nm (very small) wavelength. Because it has a highly reliable absorption in the papilla (hair follicle), it is consider the gold standard in laser hair removal. The Diode laser focuses on a specific light wavelength that is absorbed by melanin; the pigment in the hair follicle. When the laser enters the follicle, it is converted to heat and inactivates/damages the follicle, preventing the hair from regrowing. This works best on black or dark brown hair. Hair grows in cycles, therefore it is necessary to receive a series of treatments. Typically 6 treatments spaced 4 weeks apart is effective, but varies slightly depending on the patient. Unfortunately this treatment will not work on red, blonde or grey hairs on the body, this is because of the lack of melanin (color). For more information on the effectiveness and safety of this treatment check a 2020 study here.

Tattoo Removal

A high powered very focused laser beam precisely targets the tattoo ink pigments. Because their is such precision, surrounding tissues are typically not damaged. This laser is called "Q switched" which stands for quality switched. Extremely short pulse of high energy light gets absorbed by the particles of tattoo pigment. The light energy gets converted to heat and pigment breaks down into smaller particles which are then absorbed/removal by the body. There is usually minimal healing and downtime. A treatment typically takes up to an hour and 6-10 treatment is recommended depending on the age, size, color and location of the tattoo.

Q switch laser can also be used in the same way on:

  • pigmented lesions including age spots, freckles,

  • sunspots and

  • some birthmarks

Yag laser_edited.jpg

Micro Laser Peel

The laser used is called an Erbium Yag laser. It uses a 2940nm (slightly longer wavelength) that specially targets the water in the epidermal and dermal tissue. Because it is a superficial layer it can be thought of as a tool for polishing the skin, giving the skin a more youthful, smooth appearance. This treatment also leaves the skin more polished and applying make up is easier. The number of treatments needed depends on the desired results. Results can be seen after 1 treatment. A typical treatment plan for optimal results would be 3 sessions, spaced one month apart. It can be used to:

  • give the skin a polished, smooth appearance

  • reducing photoaging

  • diminishing small and wrinkles

  •  treating treatment of melasma

Dermal Fillers

30-60min, $600-750 per syringe depending on the product. Dermal fillers add volume, contours, and shape to areas of the face that may be of concern to a client. Fillers are injected in the face to help create a plump, more hydrated and youthful look.

Typically the goal is to enhance your natural shape and create a fuller look. It can also be used to augment existing beautiful facial features. Dermal fillers add volume, contours, and shape to areas such as the lips, cheeks and jawline. They can be used to fill in static wrinkles such as the nasolabial folds aka "smile lines" and wrinkles around the upper lip.

Most, though not all fillers are hyaluronic acid that is a natural substance made within in the body, and diminishes as we age. Fillers can restore plumpness and fullness for 1-2 years in most cases.

An assessment of your goals and needs will be made during your visit to discuss the amount of filler and pricing before treatment.
